Errant Space Podcast Ninety Nine: with Bernhard Wöstheinrich

This month’s podcast features Bernhard Wöstheinrich, from Berlin.
Bernhard came to my studio to record before his performance at the Third Tuesdays: Electronic/Experimental Music Night, it was the first time we’d met and we promptly began making sounds together. I find the results of our collaboration have a dream-like quality, as if floating through surreal, ever-changing environments. Be sure to listen in headphones, Bernhard’s sound is amazingly spacious!

Errant Space Podcast Eighty Nine: BLIP

This month’s podcast is a binaural recording from the July 2022 Space Out, Outside.
It features Bob Lukomski (granular synthesizers, samples) and Irman Peck (conceptual cello/bass guitar).

Its a really beautiful field recording, best experienced in headphones, with subtle interactions between the players, and their environment.

Errant Space Podcast Seventy Two: Remote Variations 5 with BioMeSS

This month’s podcast is another in the Remote Variations series, featuring BioMeSS. Its a journey into deep sonic space; ranging from subtle drones to angular blasts of noise and amazing textures.

BioMechanical ShapeShifters (or BioMeSS for short) is the project of Floyd Bledsoe from Trenton, New Jersey. The name has been used for his electronic music experimentations since the early 1990s. The concept is that BioMeSS is not solo but a group consisting of various devices that create the soundwaves. The 2010s saw recordings start to appear on the internet and now there are over 90 albums available on the Bandcamp website with many containing several hours of music each. Styles range from quiet droning atmospherics to chaotic abstract noise and many spaces in between.

This isn’t Floyd’s first appearance on the Errant Space Podcast! He was also part of podcast 59 with Quanum Elf.

Errant Space Podcast #39 – Equinox w/ Henry Lowengard

Podcast # 39 is a from a field recording of a collaborative performance with Henry Lowengard which took place as part of the Cocoon Theatre’s Soirees In the Parlor Series* on March 28, 2018. This one is a strange journey; it sounds as if it could be the imaginary score to a surrealist play or experimental film.

Henry Lowengard is an artist/musician and developer of music apps. Some of the apps featured in this performance are: Enumero, AUMI, Droneo and Ellipsynth. You can learn more about those and other apps Henry has created HERE.

Errant Space Podcast #35 – Getting out with Bonnie Kane

This month’s podcast features experimental musician Bonnie Kane.

Bonnie Kane at My Life in the Bush of Ghosts.

I first saw Bonnie perform at My Life in the Bush of Ghosts, and later had the pleasure of playing at her Thursday Experiment. Bonnie is a fearless improvisor and sonic explorer. She runs her saxophone and flute through a myriad of electronics into a guitar amp producing some fantastic, far-out sounds. This podcast is pretty far from ambient, it gets quite noisy and out, but its a fun ride! And remember, anything can be ambient if you turn it down low enough.

Below is a video of Bonnie and me at My Life in the Bush of Ghosts. That performance makes up the last part of the podcast. (Video courtesy of Bonnie Kane.)

Errant Space Podcast #31 – with Okkoto

This month’s podcast features the modular synths of Okkoto. I met Okkoto at a synth meet put on by the Hudson Valley Machine Appreciation Society, where he performed a beautifully minimal set. I was very pleased that he was interested in recording a podcast, and our collaboration produced some deep, textured electronic soundscapes.

Errant Space Podcast #29 – with Campfire’s Edge

This month’s podcast has more modular synths! courtesy of Campfire’s Edge.

Our collaboration produced some super-spacy, soundscapes – they have a sci-fi flavor that I really like, and hopefully you will too (mmm… sci-fi….).

If you want to hear more from Campfire’s Edge, I highly recommend that you check out his EP, The Last LighthouseIts a beautifully textured collection of electronic compositions sure to please any fan of this podcast.

Errant Space Podcast #16 – Music for Knitting and more Music About Art

This one is compiled from two summer 2016 performances. The first part is from a Knit In Public Day event at St. Andrews church in Beacon, NY. The second half (starts at 30:18) is from a Music About Art performance I did at the Frances Lehman Loeb Art Center on the Vassar College campus in Poughkeepsie, NY.
